Scientific objectives :   Investigation of hydrothermal activities within the caldera of Suiyo Seamount, Izu-Bonin Arc. Special emphases will be placed on mapping of sub-seafloor physical and chemical environments for microbial activities. Detailed heat flow survey using manned or remotely-operated submersibles is the main task of the cruise.
