Scientific objectives :   The cruise studied 'Volatiles and fluids in subduction zones: climate feedback and trigger mechanisms for natural disasters'. Its main objective was to uderstand the budget, reactions and re-cycling of volatile elements in subduction zones and their role in climate forcing. During Leg 1 high resolution seismic profiles were acquired, during Leg 2 coring, dredging and heat flow were the main activities. Leg 3 focused on sites influenced by venting of methane-rich fluids.
